Israel is declared to be an independent state and a provisional government is established. Immediately after the declaration, Israel is attacked by the neighboring Arab states, triggering the 1948 Arab–Israeli War.

ㅤThe Israeli Declaration of Independence, proclaimed on May 14, 1948, by David Ben-Gurion, marked the birth of the State of Israel. This historic document declared the establishment of a Jewish state in Eretz-Israel, fulfilling the Zionist dream of a homeland for the Jewish people. The declaration came into effect at midnight, coinciding with the end of the British Mandate in Palestine. This momentous event is celebrated annually in Israel as Independence Day, a national holiday observed according to the Hebrew calendar.

ㅤThe declaration was the culmination of decades of Zionist efforts and followed the United Nations’ Partition Plan for Palestine, which proposed the division of the territory into independent Arab and Jewish states. While accepted by Jewish leaders, the plan was rejected by Arab leaders, leading to increased conflict. Despite these challenges, the declaration affirmed the Jewish people’s right to self-determination and established the State of Israel, a beacon of hope and refuge for Jews worldwide.
